Chalmerspublikationer: I research.chalmers.se hittar du information om Chalmers forskning, projekt, personer och publikationer. Computational solid state physics is a very important division of computational physics dealing directly with material science. A field related to computational condensed matter is computational statistical mechanics , which deals with the simulation of models and theories (such as percolation and spin models ) that are difficult to solve otherwise. The group is embedded in the Department of Physics at Chalmers University of Technology, which is one of the largest physics departments in Sweden. Researchers in the Division of Bionanophotonics do experiments, theory and computer simulations and we are heavy users of Chalmers nanofabrication facility.

Stig Larsson Professor of Applied Mathematics. PhD in Mathematics, Chalmers University of Technology, 1985. MSc in Engineering Physics ("civilingenjör F"), Chalmers University of Technology, 1976.
To understand the dynamics of increasingly complex phenomena where standard simulation methods are inadequate, stochastic algorithms, game theory, adaptive programming, self-similarity, chaos theory and statistical methods are used to describe and increase our understanding of complex systems in nature and society, in the end trying to predict the unpredictable. Global trends are shaping our world, and while these forces present both exciting opportunities and unparalleled challenges, the demand for future scientific solutions and rapid technological innovation remains unchanged.
